Who is The Black History Man?

Robin Walker ‘The Black History Man’ was born in London but has also lived in Jamaica. He is an author, educator, and trainer. As well as running his company, Reklaw Education Ltd, and joint venture, The Black Secret, he also works for a distinguished charity, Croydon Supplementary Education Project.

From 1987 to 1990, he read Economics at the London School of Economics. In 1991 and 1992, he studied African World Studies with the brilliant Dr Femi Biko and later with Mr Kenny Baikie. Between 1993 and 1994, he trained as a secondary school teacher at Edge Hill College (linked to the University of Lancaster).

Since 1992, Robin has lectured in adult education, taught university short courses, and chaired conferences in Black History, Egyptology, African World Studies, and Entrepreneurship. In 2013, Powerful Media featured him among their 100 members of their annual Power List of Britain’s Most Influential Black People.

Internationally Acclaimed Author

In 2006 Robin wrote the seminal When We Ruled. It is the most advanced synthesis on Ancient and Mediaeval African history ever written by a single author. In 2011 Black Classic Press of Baltimore published a US version of this book. A second UK edition appeared in 2013.

 

Between 2013 and 2020, Robin followed this with When We Ruled Study Guide and Reading Plan, Blacks and Science Volumes I, II and III, Blacks and Religion Volumes I and II, The Rise and Fall of Black Wall Street and the Seven Key Empowerment Lessons, The Black Musical Tradition and Early Black Literature, If you want to learn Early African History START HERE, 19 Lessons in Black History, and the ALCS 2020 award winning Black History Matters.

 

He also wrote four books in collaboration with others: Everyday Life in an Early West African Empire, African Mathematics: History, Study Guide and Classroom Lessons, Black British History: Black Influences on British Culture 1948-2016 and 30 Black History Icons.

Highly Sought After Educator & Trainer

Robin has taught, lectured, and trained thousands from every environment including secondary schools, universities, workplaces, community centres, conference halls, as a keynote speaker, and in adult education. Over the last year, he spoke at Jaguar Land Rover, Shelter, Phoenix Group, The Africa Centre, The Royal Borough of Greenwich, etcetera. He is particularly proud of the keynote address he delivered to the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

 

Robin continues to create and deliver courses from half a day in length, to weekend intensive programmes, up to one-year programmes.

He specialises in Black History and Heritage: Ancient, Mediaeval and Modern. He teaches Entrepreneurship and Wealth Creation. He even demonstrates that it is possible to combine History with Wealth Building Education! In 2022 he co-founded the online adult education joint venture, The Black Secret, which teaches Black History and Wealth Education to adults.

 

Finally, Robin trains Secondary School teachers in how to get Black History into the National Curriculum.
